What J-Mac is dreaming these days

Posted on October 10th, 2008 at 8:29 am by Red State Eddio

Amazingly, I have created a piece of technology that zaps into the head of someone and tells me what they are dreaming. Now, for reasons of world domination, I cannot share this technology with anyone, but will from time to time broadcast some captured treasured images coming from either presidential candidate or other noteworthy or newsworthy individuals, whether they be Phillies fans or book writers who occasionally appear on Fox.

I think it is telling as to the state of the McCain campaign and the amount of time left to do something about it, beyond attacking the Oba-wan’s 3rd grade teacher’s integrity for allegedly taking an extra, unnecessary binder out of the school supply closet. This dream might be revealing what J-Mac needs most in the next 3 weeks.

Oh, and I must warn you - due to John McCain’s age, he’s apparently still dreaming in black and white. Go figure.

Apparently Obama has always hung out with the wrong crowd

Posted on October 10th, 2008 at 12:25 am by Kristen

“I was shocked to see that Obama would be a person running for president.”

Even former classmates can’t believe someone like Barack Hussein Obama is seeking the highest office in the land.

“I would say Obama didn’t show great character about choosing who he hung out with…..I think he behaved well and wasn’t getting into trouble, but he didn’t seem to hang out with the right people.”

How conflicted will David Kaiser be?

Posted on October 8th, 2008 at 7:53 pm by Red State Eddio

I’m sure that DK was happily unpacking all his paraphernalia from out of the closet: dusting off the cap, smoothing out the jacket, getting his “Ron Hextall” jersey free of mothballs - all to be ready for another year of Philadelphia Flyers hockey. Having made it to the Eastern Conference Finals before getting flattened by the Penguins, DK was excited to get a ticket to opening night and enjoy another great season of hockey - until he read the following headline:

“‘Hockey Mom’ Palin to Drop Flyers’ First Puck”

Now imagine the conflict inside DK’s soul: support my beloved Flyers while this renegade interloper upon the Presidential scene sanctions the inaugural game of the season with her presence? She of little experience and even less intelligence? Oh, the horror!

A sleepless night in the City of Brotherly Love ensued…

Who won Round 2?

Posted on October 7th, 2008 at 9:26 pm by Jason Wright, Editor

Talk about false advertising. The debate wasn’t a Town Hall, it was just like the last one but without podiums. I was hoping for something much more interactive and the audience just seemed to be reading Brokaw’s questions. Despite his best efforts early on, Brokaw lost control of the format and gave up on enforcing the rules.

So who won? Did anyone?

Gimme some Babe Ruth politics

Posted on October 6th, 2008 at 11:49 pm by Kristen

It’s time for McCain to step up to the plate and hit some home runs. Actually, some grand slams. I want to see some passion, some good talking points, and revealing Obama for who he really is. Four weeks remain; 28 days until America casts her vote. It’s ‘go time’.

With one debate down and two to go we have yet to see something hit out of the park. Sure, McCain hammered Obama with foreign policy and made him look completely inept at taking over as Commander-in-Chief. But if I were to ask 10 people who they thought ‘won’ the first round, it would come up as a tie.

There’s a few things McCain needs to do either tomorrow night (er, now it’s tonight) and in the upcoming weeks:

I, too, have underestimated the creepiness

Posted on October 5th, 2008 at 8:53 pm by Brian

My favorite commercial is the E-Trade baby with the clown. At the end of the commercial the baby says he “underestimated the creepiness” of renting a clown. Too funny.

We have all laughed and chuckled at the jokes and pokes about Barry Obama being “The One”, “The Messiah” and the “hope we have been waiting for”, but I too have underestimated the creepiness of the devotion that many of the Obama-Flock seem to have adopted about this guy. From the Che style shirts, Che posters in campaign offices, over the top rhetoric and Obama Presidential seals, the “Cult of Personality” that is Barak Obama has taken on a life of its own.

I am sure we all seen these videos posted on the net but I believe they are deserving of discussion on PD.

Kids Sing for Barak Obama

The Obama Pledge

It is time to take the gloves off, “my friends”. Camp-McCain should have these clips in ads within the week if they are serious about winning this election.

Biden vs. Palin on SNL

Here’s last night’s SNL debate. There’s a bit about Scranton from Joe Biden that made me cackle like daughter when she’s high on Pez.

For what it’s worth (since it’s about the economy)

Posted on October 3rd, 2008 at 9:23 am by Eric Puff

My wife and I bought a house this summer, so I thought I would ask my mortgage guy how things were going for him, whether people were buying or too scared, and if I could get the same loan if I showed up today. This is what he said:

Oddly enough even though the media would have you think differently you still can get a low down payment loan at a pretty good rate. The smaller banks, like mine seem to be doing OK. It just takes a little more thought of how to structure the loans. It is a very scary time because of the unknown, but all in all well.

Does this reflect your area or understanding? I wonder if people are too scared to apply for loans they could probably get. If so, I’m sure this fear is a factor in the election.

The Bazillion Dollar Bailout

Posted on October 2nd, 2008 at 2:20 pm by Shawn Naegle

We do it every year, so why stop now? In the Bailout bill that passed the Senate last night, once again they raised the cap on the national debt. The actual wording from Section 122 on page 68 reads:

Subsection (b) of section 3101 of title 31, United States Code, is amended by striking out the dollar limitation contained in such subsection and inserting $11,315,000,000,000.

How convenient. They don’t bother rewriting the legislation, they just amend the old and insert a new number each year. 11.3 TRILLION DOLLARS! Why not once and for all just insert Unlimited? That way we can stop lying to ourselves pretending that there is a restraint, a cap, a ceiling, a hard stop, some number that is just so big they won’t insert it. Because there’s not. No number is too big.

Once we get that out of the way, I propose the Bazillion American Dollars act or BAD. We just pass BAD and all of our problems go away. The Treasury just prints ONE BAZILLION DOLLARS and presto, Social Security is solvent, Medicare, Medicaid, Prescription Drugs – all paid for in advance. Now that’s forward thinking! But why stop there? Why not spread BAD to everyone? Free health care for all, free college, free food for the hungry or even the not so hungry, and while were at it, let’s just pay off everyone’s mortgage – crisis solved!

We could all use a little BAD.

Let’s just get it over with because that’s what we’re really doing, a little at a time.

Food personalities of presidential candidates revealed

Posted on October 1st, 2008 at 8:05 pm by Jason Wright, Editor

Talk about a tasty study:

From TasteBudPolitics.com

Campaign platforms, voting records and media statements may all be typical tools that U.S. citizens use to help them determine whom to vote for in the 2008 presidential election. However, now Americans have one more tool to help them decide: the results of a new study conducted by Dr. Alan Hirsch, director of the Smell & Taste Treatment and Research Foundation, on behalf of Qdoba Mexican Grill, which analyzed the Q-dentities (food personalities) of the 2008 Republican and Democratic presidential and vice-presidential candidates. For example, perhaps knowing that Barack Obama is a Taco Salad or that John McCain is a Nachos personality will be the deciding factor in helping some Americans finalize their votes.

Fair shake for Sarah?

Posted on October 1st, 2008 at 11:52 am by Red State Eddio

How are we going to grade the performances tomorrow night? I’m wondering if we’re going to use “the measurement of Obama”.

I noticed that after the Presidential debate last Friday, there were many comments made here at PD as well as other sites, that Obama had won because he didn’t lose as badly as feared in the debate on foreign policy. The prevailing thought was that it was going to be a disaster, it didn’t turn out as bad as feared (although J-Mac did use him as a broom and sweep the stage a few times), therefore Obama “won” because he lost by less than feared. So how will the comparison with Sarah Palin be for tomorrow night?

The view from Afghanistan, off-topic but worth reading

Posted on September 30th, 2008 at 7:20 am by Jason Wright, Editor

One of my cousins (and one of the smartest people I know) is serving in Afghanistan right now. He just sent this update and it’s worth a read from someone in-the-know. We hear how things are going over there, but rarely first-hand. It seems we rely too much on pool reporters with agendas.

I have been here in Afghanistan for almost a month now, and two days ago we received the shock that we were not here for 4 1/2 months, but closer to 6 1/2. My initial reaction was a bit of surprise and frustration, but then I went to church mostly with soldiers who are here for 6 months minimum, most of them for 12. And I realized that my life is not that bad.

Most all of the soldiers I meet have volunteered to come back here again and again because, unlike me most of the time, they have come to know the locals both here and in Iraq, have come to love them, and really believe and see the difference that there presence has made in people’s lives. So they leave their own families behind again and again to come over here and get the job done. Regardless of what you think of the politics of the war, you cannot help but swell with emotion when talking to these “Joes,” as they are called. Where they come from I don’t know, but their parents obviously taught them a thing or two about selfless service.

Wake up America!

Posted on September 29th, 2008 at 9:12 pm by Alaina Segovia

I realize no one wants to pick up a $700 billion dollar bill, but have you considered what can and will happen if we don’t do something to get this economy moving?

Right now, as you read this, our entire financial system is in gridlock.  There is no confidence in the market place and banks are not lending to each other.  These loans are a vital piece of our economy.  Few businesses have enough cash to operate entirely on cash flow and require loans to grow their operations.

A better bailout plan

Posted on September 29th, 2008 at 2:57 pm by Troy La Mana

I’m against the $700 Billion dollar bailout. Instead, I’m in favor of giving the $85 Billion for the bailout of AIG to American Citizens instead. We deserve a dividend and it will save America $615 Billion.

To make the math simple, let’s assume there are 200,000,000 bona fide U.S. Citizens aged 18+. Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man, woman and child.

Palin clip from Katie Couric interview

Posted on September 27th, 2008 at 7:29 am by Jason Wright, Editor

I’ve been on the road and out of the PD loop quite a bit lately, but I’m surprised this interview didn’t get any attention. This is just about a “jaw dropper” on my scale.

Is there anyone else who thinks this is a problem? If this is how she performs with Biden, she’s in trouble.

Who won?

Posted on September 26th, 2008 at 9:57 pm by Kristen

So there were only three of us at the live blog tonight. (Thanks Kaiser for setting it up.) Where were the rest of you? Don’t tell me you’re putting personal lives before politics. ;-)

We had a great time, and since we all agreed the debate was a little ho-hum, we ranged in topics from our age to Kaiser’s upcoming nuptials, to being liberal vs conservative, and even some text-messaging lingo. But it was also amusing to poke some fun at McCain’s smirking and Obama looking ticked for the first time, like ever. We almost wondered if either one was going to blow a fuse. (They seem slightly annoyed with each other).

I think I’m going to hand this one to McCain……but only by a little. He started out kinda rough (shall we say….vague?), but then came through with some great one-liners as well as some hard facts.

In your opinion, who won this round?

I’ll send you a free book if you can convince me the Clintons want Obama to win

Posted on September 25th, 2008 at 2:24 pm by Jason Wright, Editor

Here we go again. Bill the Zipper is once again heaping praise on J-Mac and there are fresh rumors that Biden could be out and Hillary brought back to the table. (I don’t buy it.)

Is there anyone who can convince me that Hillary and Bill honestly want Obama to win? Because it’s become obvious to me — and probably many of you — that Hillary privately roots for a McCain victory so she can have one more bite at the apple in 2012. (Conventional wisdom says if Obama wins this time, 2016 is probably too late for Hillary.)

So PD fans, make your case that the Clintons truly mean what they say. Are they are working hard to get Obama elected because they truly want him to win?

If you can convince me, and I’m an open-minded chap I assure you, I’ll send you a signed copy of any of my novels. Take your pick.
