Joe “The Gaffe Machine” Biden faces off against Paul “MiniMitt” Romney. The festivities begin at 9:00 pm eastern daylight time. (Yes, we are still on daylight time unlike the rest of the world. Not fun when you’re in international business.)

Tonight’s moderator is the wife of Julius Genachowski, whom President Obama appointed to lead the FCC. Her name Martha Raddatz. Obama also attended their wedding in 1991.

If you have a television, every major network will be carrying the debate. If you don’t, it will also be broadcast on YouTube.

I wanted to make another comment that I haven’t read yet, Did anyone notice how the camera was not centered on Ryan until his final speech? I can’t help but wonder if this was planned by ABC since they were in charge of the debate. Biden was center camera screen almost every time he talked.

I did notice that. However, for Ryan, having the split-screen showing Biden’s expressions probably goes to Ryan’s advantage. They did do full-screen on Biden’s responses more in the first, but did notice they started doing it to Ryan more to the end.

While “Joe” may have had a lot of experience with debating, he was so rude I just could even listen to him speak. So I watched a recorded show and came back to the debate so I could fast forward whenever Joe spoke. Obama’s team keeps saying how Romney lied last week at the debate, I think “Joe” needs to check HIS facts.

I think Bidens’ open contempt and lack of respect towards Ryan eliminate any edge he may have gained in the Obama message. I am sure the MSM will spin it as a major victory for Biden but I expect the majority of America will see this as being rude and not very vice-presidential.

Wolf Blitzer: “Here we have the poll results… Ryan 48%, Biden 44%… clearly a tie…”
    .
Not a math major, were we Wolf?

    • Anonymous

He shouldn’t have used “clearly”. With the small sample size, statistically you can’t say it wasn’t a tie…

      • Anonymous

        Exactly my point.
To call a 4% point lead a “clear” tie is dubious at best, and obviously shows a wishful bias.

Biden’s strategy is clear – mock Ryan, interrupt Ryan, get Raddatz to parrot Byden… Ryan may have been prepared for a debate, but not the pit bull Biden is tonight.

Truly cannot believe that Ryan has not held Biden accountable for the laughter. An ambassador dies and Biden laughs.

    • German Observer

Didn’t happen. Biden laughs again and again, and rightly so. But both held respect when this topic came up. At least thats what I was seeing.

      • Anonymous

Rightly so? Please don’t be laughing at my funeral, then.

    • Trudy

Jason, I think by Ryan NOT responding to Biden’s laughter and smirking, it made Biden look even worse because the American people saw Biden for who he really is. He was like a child throwing a tantrum only with sneering and laughter and sighing.

Ryan did miss quite a few opportunities to put Biden in his place. Missing were the 1) recovery Summer, 2) buried middle class, 3) gaffe on Libya statement, 4) only spending 15 seconds on his response for Libya and pivoting to Iraq and Afghanistan, and 5) Solyndra, et. al.

He should have turned to him and ask him if he is laughing at the administrations handling of the Bengazi snafu or the death of the ambassador – neither of which are funny.

Biden says AMA and AARP supported Obamacare. Well duh, they both benefit from it. AMA is mostly primary care docs, AARP sells insurance.

      Such a good point.

hemorrhage tax cuts? Interesting way to put it.

    Biden: “hehehe”

What’s with Biden’s “Oh God” then laughing to himself? Is he not taking this seriously?

Why has Raddatz cut Ryan off at least three times already but hasn’t cut Biden off once?

  • Jason Wright, Editor

Next time Biden laughs, Ryan needs to turn to him and say, “You think this is funny? That explains why your boss attends fundraisers while the world is on fire.”

Ryan seems a little slow on the trigger tonight

Biden. Why do you keep repeating words. Repeating words. It’s really annoying. Annoying.

  • https://twitter.com/#!/PD_Scott Scott A. Robinson, Editor

The debate is kind of ridiculous. There isn’t much of a debate here. Both candidates are just repeating campaign talking points remotely related to the questions asked.

    Biden seems really, really angry.

Biden claims “malarkey”. He said Ryan cut embassy security in the budget. 1. Obama has never passed a budget. 2. Ryan isn’t in charge of allocating the budget. Do these people actually thing?

And Biden goes straight to spiking the football on Osama Bin Laden. Then he uses Romney’s “moving heaven and earth” quote completely out of context again.

    Wow. Starting with Libya. Bold.

This is being held at “Centre College”? Is it a British school or just a Kentucky thing to mix up the “e” and “r”?
