For the first time since he’s become the presumptive nominee, Mitt Romney has topped President Obama in a general election poll.

The Fox News poll only has Romney edging Obama by two points, so it is within the margin, but the poll comes on the heels of a tough week for the White House, as the Romney campaign is burying them on the comment made by DNC adviser Hilary Rosen. Obama quickly distanced himself from the comment, but the statement creates an opening for Romney in one of his weakest areas – female voters.

The Romney campaign pounced on the issue immediately, with Ann Romney unleashing her first tweet of the election: “I made a choice to stay home and raise five boys. Believe me, it was hard work.”

Boom.

Agreed.  it was a good week for our side.  Predictably, when the last opponent folded, the Republicans started to coalesce around the last man standing.  And, when that man’s wife proves to be a WMD (Woman of Mass Destruction), then what is the question?  Romney was tested by fire and his wife has some fire of her own.  I think we have a winning combo here.

Of course, Obomb’s team had a bad week.   A very bad week.  From employment numbers, to the market numbers, the gas price spike, to the slam on moms, I have enjoyed watching him twist in the wind.

I am getting optimistic.  Nobody wake me up!

As usual, and predictable, Democrats have done what they always do, they over played their hand. As usual, they have played that hand until it demonstrated their own hypocrisy thus blowing up in their face. Like the well organized disciplined campaign that they have proven to be for many many months, Team-Mitt immediately jumped on the opportunity and within literal hours had the entire Democrat establishment scrambling into damage control and throwing one of their committed own under the proverbial Obama bus. This is a classic example of good campaigns and good candidates are able to do. Without a doubt Team-Barry will do the same thing back to Team-Mitt when the opportunity presents itself but at least we have a candidate who can give as good as he will take.

When the news outlets couldn’t stop talking about Sandra Fluke and Rush Limbaugh it was a fake war.  In fact, I wrote a piece here,
that chastised Mr. Limbaugh and stated that he owed conservative women
an apology for his language. But the actual controversy over birth
control- I rolled my eyes and moved on.  There is no war there.  I’ll
tell you why.  Conservative men do not want to take away birth control.
Even if they did, conservative women would just refuse to have sex and
conservative men would see the light.  See how that works.  Men simply
don’t think about birth control– they don’t.  In the same way that
women don’t think about prostate cancer, men don’t think about birth
control.  Not until women bring it up.  So —— Fake war.

The democrats are used to throwing the divisive tactics, such
as a “War on Women” out into the public arena to cause panic and stir
up warm (to hot) feelings among the group effected, in this case,
liberal women.  It ignites the base, and rallies the young to their
cause.  Conservative women know this and mostly ignore it.  However,
this time the democrats did something they didn’t know they were doing:
they tapped into the real war on women.  They, inadvertently, touched
the sore spot that conservative women have kept bandaged for years.  I could go on, but if you want to see more go here:

Suffice it to say- Dems didn’t know how deep the water was when they waded in on this one.  Now they are up to their necks and trying to get back to shore.
