As Coach Factory Onlinepoints out, the Newt fall can come anytime. I still like Mitt as the odds on favorite due to his dicipline and organization

Also, Florida, Utah, Texas, SC, GA and AZ are picking up 10 electoral college seats.

Virginia, N. Carolina, Florida, New Mexico, Colorado…

Gives us 231. Not enough, still 39 shy.
How many blue does Mitt turn red? Your thoughts?

      • Brian H

        I say Mitt can bring…

OH, PA, VA, NC, FL, NM, CO, NV, MO – a net gain of 133 for a total of 312 electors. Am I way off here?

The reason I ask is because I do believe this is how we should be assessing the strengths and weaknesses of all the horses.

Missouri went GOP last time, albeit by the slimmest of margins. Either of them should turn Indiana also. Mitt might (emphasis on might) have a chance at turning Michigan. Iowa and Wisconsin could be in play. I agree on the whole, Brian, assuming that Mitt can effectively rally the base behind his candidacy (and a good VP choice and frequent reminders of who he is running against ought to do that!), I think his general election prospects are brighter. However, I do think that Newt has a decent chance too. With the probable exception of PA, none of the states you name above are out of the question for him.

I think your right Brian, and I think Michigan as well

  • Brian H

So which states does Newt turn from blue to red in a general. In the end this is what it is all about. Your thoughts?

This ad has a nice tone. Gingrich definitely needs to soften his image. His closing look of understanding was well done.

Just the kind of feel good, fuzzy crap that the American people will drool over. Pretty much a home run.

    Rudy! Rudy! Rudy! Rudy!
    Good call, Steve…

I’m pretty sure that’s the main theme from Rudy in the background. Good choice, Newt.
