A new Rasmussen Reports Poll has Newt Gingrich at 38%, Mitt Romney at 17%, Ron Paul and Herman Cain at 8%, and Michelle Bachmann, Rick Santorum, and Rick Perry each at 4%. This poll has had a significant effect on the PD Composite due to the aging component of the formula.

Now we must consider whether this is a short term ABR spike as Gingrich’s numbers are in the range of Rick Perry back only three months ago, whether this is a real spike with long-term potential, or whether Republican voters cannot actually decide who they should support.

Either way, a jump this quickly at the expense of every significant candidate is stunning.
