The entire Herman Cain story is fascinating. He’s accused of sexual harassment by multiple women, but denies the allegations vigorously and pledges to fight on. Despite some slippage in the polls, he’s forged ahead and changed the subject pretty effectively since the scandal first broke.

But now he’s accused of a consensual 13-year affair, nothing illegal, and he’s considering an exit? He’s said, “We are reassessing as we speak. Reassessment means reevaluation.”

Cain’s collapse might be the single greatest gift Newt Gingrich has ever received.

Anyone seen this quote from Cain? These are not the words of a man wrongfully accused:
    .
Cain was asked whether the accusations against him made him a problematic general election nominee – particularly if new allegations arise.
    .
“I have worked with thousands of people. I can’t possibly say that someone won’t trump up another accusation,” Cain told reporters at the news conference at a steakhouse below his campaign headquarters. “It just goes with the territory. So there’s no way that I can guarantee that some more mess – as my grandmother would say – [isn’t] going to come up.
    .
“It makes me problematic if you are looking for someone with no blemishes and no accusations,” Cain continued. “When was the last time that we had the perfect candidate with no blemishes? My point is this: If your opposition is determined to bring you down, they will stop at nothing.”

Whilst his words have a certain ring to them, wouldn’t taking a public lie-detector test be the fast-track to putting it all to bed? (No pun intended)
      .
Bottom line, the Cain Train has been sidetracked ’cause he be squeezin’ too much caboose!

Men like Cain have a super-ego which causes them to ignore problems that turn the rest of us away. That super-ego is usually at the heart of success, but it can also cause its owner to be oblivious to the obvious. This 4 day reassessment period is where the reality side of his brain tries to reel in the super-ego side.
    .
The difference with Newtie’s women is that none are talking. So, their story has no legs (no pun intended) because it has no mouth (don’t go there). But, Cain’s babes are walkin’ and talkin’ ’bout the man who done them wrong! Oh, I know dat’s right!!!
    .
And, Cain’s gals all appear to be white women which puts him in the Tiger-league of cross-race hanky-panky (“C-R-H-K”). That is a turn-off to some conservatives. Newtie kept it Anglo-only which is less disturbing to some, certainly less complicated.
    .
Politically, Cain is a dead-man-talking. He was starting to fade just before the accusations and he is just before political rigor mortis.

I was wrong. I said he’d be done by Nov. and it now looks like he might go until the first week in Dec.

Cain reassessed his campaign because he is a strong family man and sometimes family comes first. Regardless of the truth he probably wanted to assess if putting his family through this was worth it. You know, he was a real man.
    .
Also, Alveda King – Niece of Dr Martin Luther King Jr, defended Cain on CNN.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=EZD23vpLkvg She made a very valid point that how can a man going through chemotherapy, which lowers libido, have an affair?

Considering an exit is not the same as reassessing…
    .
But, he really should not have stated that publicly. That is a novice political move.
    .
But, novice political moves do not mean he would not be an excellent POTUS.
    .
Still hanging on to the wild Cain Train ride. There’s really no reason to jump off until the train has stopped completely. Of course, one can be looking at other options, while still on the train. I have until Super Tuesday to make a final decision.

      You are right, dw.
      .
Novice political moves do not mean he would not be an excellent President. Novice political moves just means he will never be President.

If he is still in it than he he clearly is the political amateur we all know him to be. To publicly suggest you are “reassessing” your campaign is to say to all donors they need to “reasses” opening their checkbooks. Cain is done. The well will soon run dry. Who will still give their money to this poor campaign?

Just heard that he’s still in it…
