As we discussed yesterday, this is quickly turning in to a two horse race. Only a month an a half from the Iowa Caucus, Mitt Romney remains near the top and Newt Gingrich is climbing significantly. Herman Cain’s drop will continue, much like Rick Perry plummeted into obscurity. During the aforementioned discussion, it was pointed out that only a short while ago, this appeared to be a two horse race between Romney and Cain. However, there is a significant difference this time. Romney and Gingrich have been vetted. Both have been in the national public eye for years, Gingrich even longer than Romney. Despite all their warts and their lack of tea party/conservative purity these are the candidates who have risen from the brawl. Short of an unfathomable gaffe, this is who Republicans will ultimately choose from in their caucus/primary season.
