Call for troubleshooters

Filed Under Scandals on Oct 31

Some of you report that PD is currently generating errors in certain browsers. Will you help us troubleshoot them? In the comments, please tell us whether you’re on a Mac or PC and what browser/version you’re using. Also, if you’re getting intermittent script errors, please list those as well.

To encourage the lazy among us to participate, I’ll pick a random commenter to receive an autographed copy of The Wedding Letters.

Windows 7 Dell Computer – On a work network

    “Stop running this script?

A script on this page is causing Internet Explorer to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer might become unresponsive.”

    • Rusty Shackleford

Mrs. Shackleford and myself get this exact same message from both our home computers and my work PC. Interestingly though, I do not have this problem with my iPad (that I am responding on right now).

If you need a timeline, our issues started with the screen for the first “live debate blog”. The count down would start, but the page wouldn’t load……..ever.

Work comp, IE 8, Windows XP, used to get runscript error, had to select no and page opened up fine. Today 11/01/2011, I did not get that runscript error.

  • Joyce A (East of Eden)

I check PD at home on a PC using IE9 and Firefox with no problems. Hope you get the bugs worked out.

  • Stephen

Windows 7/Google Chrome – no issues.

  • Brian H

My work comp. Windows xp, internet explorer. I use Mozilla at work to access, no probs.

  • Whodat

Mozilla. Windows Vista on a Dell PC

A few little problems that I thought I was doing myself. A couple of times I hit the button and my brilliant writing did not post. Pretty much works fine for me, but I will note issues and report…

  • Alaina Segovia

PC, Windows XP (I know, but it’s my work laptop), Internet Explorer 8
I keep getting the following error:
    “Stop running this script?

A script on this page is causing Internet Explorer to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer might become unresponsive.”
I’m pretty sure it has something to do with the Facebook links as everything else has loaded on the page when I get that message. If I click no, it runs fine. If I click yes, it gives me that message for each Facebook link.
Both my iPhone 4S and Andriod phones work fine.

Also, it all started the day of the debate before the Orlando debate… Can’t remember when that was… Just that it was right before that debate because I had a problem getting on the live blogging.

My school computer gets the scripting error and freezes.
    PC, Microsoft Windows XP 2002
    Internet Explorer 8

  • Steve M.

    I’m on a PC, Internet Explorer v. 7.0.5730.13

I get the scripting error, click “No” at the prompt and things work alright.
I always assumed that it was because the browser at work was crawling along in the stone age w/ IE 7.

  • QPC

    PC, running Internet Explorer 8.0.7600.16385
I always get a scripting error that freezes Internet Explorer.
