The voice that launched a thousand jokes will be staying in port this cycle, as former Alaska Governor and 2008 Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin has announced that she will not be seeking the party’s 2012 nomination for President.

At this point, I’m not entirely sure this is a surprise, given how far along the campaign is in the calendar.

Palin said to her supporters:

“I apologize to those who are disappointed in this decision,” she said. “I’ve been hearing from them in the last couple of hours but I believe that they, when they take a step back, will understand why the decision was made and understand that, really, you don’t need a title to make a difference in this country. I think that I’m proof of that.”

Palin’s decision not to run is a blow to this blogger specifically, because what the heck am I going to do with the hundreds of Palin jokes I’ve been working on since the end of the ’08 campaign?
