WOW! Post a Palin clip and disappear for the day and this is what happens. Too much to weigh in on here, but I’ll say “Kev” is right about at least one thing, we’re pretty much the same 10 people talking to each other all the time :)

    • David Kaiser, Editor

Bah, there’s at least 15 of us!

      • German Observer

Whether 15 or 10 seems to depend on my presence, as I learned that my pure appearence does make some leaving. So, what’s the price for staying away?

        • Whodat

You’re always welcome, GO – just don’t offer any Euro-Socialist opinions.

    • Gary Russell

I’m schizophrenic, and so am I. Does that count for three people?

      • David Kaiser, Editor

No, but it certainly explains a lot Gary!

        • Gary Russell

          We resemble that remark!

    • Brian H

Palin or Paul is guaranteed to spark a debate, for sure.

  • Liz

Uh oh, quietly leave the room. German observer approaching crack-up.

  • Liz

This was the best State of the Union in a long time. Would love to replace the current mope with someone a bit more in tune and patriotic.

    • David Kaiser, Editor

      Uh, Liz?

The State of the Union isn’t until January 25th.

Ok, Kev, let me ‘splain some stuff to you. I’ll use small words so you won’t have to tab to the dictionary site very much.

First, I seriously doubt you know many (if any) conservatives. Is Palin my primary choice? Nope. I’m a Romney guy and make no secret of it. That said, I’ll take Sarah over Barry every single day of the week. If you’re looking for an unmitigated disaster, you need look no further than the current Oval occupant.

I’ll pause here while you look up some of those big words.

Second, Palin didn’t wade into the Tucson tragedy. She was dragged into it by the howling mad left wing lunatic media fringe that is permanently hell bent on blaming her for everything from gun violence to Matt Lauer’s pattern baldness. She didn’t respond to any of the mindlessly contrived assaults on her character for three days – an eternity in today’s 24 hour media circus cycle. You’re upset because she upstaged The One by a few hours? Get over it. Barry has the undivided attention unique to the Presidential bully pulpit. Sarah has a Facebook page. You probably get spun up every time she posts an update on Willow’s basketball team. Get over it.

Still working with the dictionary? That’s ok. I’ll wait.

Finally, you came here and started throwing rocks at us. We didn’t invite you. If you expect to come in here and spout off without getting some thrown back at you, you’re in the wrong space. There are plenty of left leaning lunatic fringe blogs out there overflowing with anti-Sarah vitriol. For the time being, the web is still a free space. Go find one.

    • Kev

      Original.

      • Brian H

If you took the time to get know our positions before you spout out you would have known that most in this forum do not consider Palin to be, or should be, a front-running horse in 2012. But, like most of the Palin-haters, you run at the mouth before doing your homework.

      • David Kaiser, Editor

As opposed to say, you throwing the word idiot around like F-bombs in a Quentin Tarentino movie?

Insults without creativity is like watching Rosie O’Donnell streak at the Super Bowl halftime show.

No one feels good about it and you just look silly doing it.

        • Whodat

Whoa, DK!!! I’m gonna have to flag you there. This line has gotten pretty rough, but introducing a mental image like Rosie streaking is way out of bounds. It might take some counseling to get over it. Please, a mind is a terrible thing to waste and you just wasted mine!

        • Gary Russell

          OUCH! OUCH!
David, you just made me jab a pen into my eyes to try to drive away the unbearable mental image.

Of course, if i wuzzant sich a eediot, i woodent a dun it. Kev, my feelins ar hert.

        • http://www.sotr.us Cordeiro

The International Guy Council has met at an undisclosed location and decided to deduct three points from Kaiser’s “Guy Card” for unnecessary and obscene references to Rosie O’Donnell.

          • David Kaiser, Editor

So that puts me, oh, only 50 or so points ahead of you there Cordy?

  • German Observer

    Hey, wait a minute.

Did she really basically say “don’t blame me, I have nothing to do with it, I just used my freedom of speech”? Did she really miss the chance then to explain why her website changed, altough she had nothing to do with all that?

Did she really miss the chance to say something like “luckily this tragedy has nothing to do with me, but maybe we should rethink phrases like ‘don’t retreat, reload’ as sooner or later some nuthead may take that literally”?

Ähm, and did she really say, that murder starts and ends with the murderer and everything in between is of no relevance? So can I conclude, that the killers who are responisible for 9/11 just did their personal thing and we don’t have to look after the people who mislead them and heatened them up? I have to thinkk that to the end.

Oh, and did she really put her self subtly on the same level to the president? Romney and co. will have loved to hear that.

  • Kev

Didn’t realize you idiots needed me to clarify I wouldn’t be voting for Palin. Since she was on the 2008 ticket with him and is probably running in 2012. Point is a lot of conservatives I know think Palin is a disaster. Look at the polls you idiots. Former veep candidate comes in behind a preacher with much less name id. I can see why this lame site has like the same 10 people on every post.

    • Alaina

Well, it’s your choice to read it and post comments.

Anyway, just to make a point… you blasted Palin for making a comment about the issue 72 hours after she was dragged into it, but you hardly took an hour to defend yourself when someone simply disagreed with you.

    • Gary Russell

Kev, mi amigo, you call me an idiot without any proof. I humbly submit that you are mistaken.

However, based upon your comments, I feel safe in questioning your ability to conduct a rationale discussion.

  • Kev

I don’t get how she ends up being part of every story. It’s not right that she puts herself into everything. If a cat got hit by a dumptruck she would put out a statement or whatever. She should have stayed quiet. She’s really desperate looking.

    • Whodat

You must have missed Rush’s great timeline explanation of this on Wednesday. He detailed the facts noting that Palin’s name, website and populartiy started to be used as reasons the shooter did the crime within minutes after the crime. She said nothing. Posted nothing. She did no Sunday talk shows as did many others. Her name and website were again assailed. Then Monday it continued. Finally, she felt compelled to defend herself. I think she showed tremendous restraint.
Of course, Palin is a very popular person. As you point out, she would draw a crowd no matter the subject because, when she speaks, she actually says things – things that many of us agree with but have no other public voice to say for us.

In this case, however, she waited nearly 72 hours. How long did the liberals wait to use the opportunity to assail her, and me, and all of us who believe in our rights of free speech and gun ownership? Not a full hour, pal.

      • Kev

I’m not your pal, for starters…….Showing restraint would’ve been waiting until after the funerals and the president. By then the thing about the shooter not being into politics or watching news and stuff would’ve been out anyway. Then she used an ignorant term that’s only made it worse. I’m a conservative and I voted McCain in 2008. But not again. Palin is a media whore and not much else……Pal.

        • Gary Russell

Wow, Kev. Somebody apparently did more than just pee in your cornflakes, pal.

Other than you’re obvious anger issues, you’re showing your ignorance of the situation by accusing Palin of injecting herself into a story that she has been dragged into (as Whodat explained).

By the way…pretty bold of you to vow that you’ll never vote for McCain again. I’m going to join you out on that limb and predict that NONE of us will vote for McCain in 2012!

          • Brian H

Gary. Unlike “Kev”, I plan on voting on McCain in 2012 even though he will not run for office and will be older than dirt. I plan on getting the Write-In McCain initiative going in America and calling it the Straight Talk Horse and Buggy Tour. I am saddened to hear that one “Kev” has determined that he will not vote for McCain again, hopefully the other 58 million who voted for J-Mac in 2008 won’t be so fickle.

Somehow I seriously doubt that “Kev” voted for McCain in 2012. I am sure if a cat did get hit by a dump truck it would only be a matter of minutes before the “Kevs” of the world and the leftist nutters would begin accusing Palin of being behind the wheel of the truck and purposely swerving into the cat….accusing her of being a racist “Tea-Bagger” if said cat happened to be black.

            • Gary Russell

              :)

        • Brian H

Thanks for participating in the PD community, Kev. I always appreciate it when someone reminds me why I should never vote for a Democrat.

  • Whodat

I have tried to hide it, but I like Sarah Palin. What I like best is that she punches and counter-punches where most politicians just change the subject or talk in pastels so as not to offend (hence the word “politician”).

She got tagged with blame on day 1, but waited until day 3 to not only meet her critics, but hammer away at their arrogance and ignorance.

I only thought she took too long to say it…

However, after sitting through Obombs political diatribe of nearly 1/2 hour, I think Palin’s timing was O.K. The first part of his speech was good, but the last 7 or 8 minutes really got political to me.

    • Brian H

I must give credit where credit is due. I thought Obama’s speech was really good. Obama as much called out his own party as much as he could without calling out his own party.

I am not sure if this is part of Obama’s “triangulation” (I hate using media cliched buzzwords), or, has POTUS-O come to the realization that the leftist within his ranks will doom the nation, his party, and his presidency if he allows them to set the tone and set the policy?

  • Gary Russell

Very well-done. Struck just the right tone.

  • MadRick1975

Plain was good here, but it’s still a challenge to imagine giving that address in the Oval.

  • Brian H

I think her remarks were well written, well delivered, and appropriate.

Did anyone else see Bill Maher on Jay Leno? The crowd reaction was a great example of what happens when liberals are removed from their bubble of self adulation. His rant about guns and politicians resulted in an audience that was obviously not in tune with his world view.
