Government transparency is showing up in the House. Of course, to be effective the cameras will need to be turned on, but any movement in the right direction should be heralded. From Politico:

House Republicans on Friday announced they are moving to install cameras in the Rules Committee hearing room. The GOP has long criticized Democrats for keeping the Rules Committee proceedings opaque. Rep. David Dreier, the California Republican atop the committee, sent a letter to the Chief Administrative Officer, asking that they start to install cameras.

The Rules Committee molds debate on the House floor. It decides the allotment of time and how many amendments may be offered. It’s the first push from the GOP to enact an election-year promise.
