Back in May, I postulated a Hillary Clinton nomination challenge to Barack Obama, and while I still think now as I did then – that she won’t do it – it’s obvious that others think it is possible as well.

Now we see Gallup actually has some polling numbers for a hypothetical Obama/Clinton tangle for the Democratic nomination in 2012.

Someone else who thinks Hillary may go after Obama? Read the excerpt below:

NBC’s “Meet the Press” host David Gregory on Sept. 5 raised the possibility that Clinton might renew her battle against Obama for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination, asking outside White House adviser David Plouffe, “Do you envision a primary challenge from another Democrat in 2012 against this president?” Gregory then asked more specifically, “Do you — can you rule out, based on actual information, that Secretary of State Clinton would not pursue the presidency again, would not challenge President Obama?”

And Plouffe’s answer?

Listen, you saw this week they’re working so well together, working on Middle East peace, and it’s a wonderful partnership. And, you know, I think that was a really inspired choice by the president, and Secretary of State Clinton is just doing a remarkable job.

Gregory pushes:

So is that a yes, no, or maybe?

And Plouffe’s final answer:

Listen, they’re, they’re, they’re a team and a great team for America.

Did that sound like a yes, no, or maybe to any of you?
