obama-japan-bow.jpg

Take a look at this picture. The man on the left is the President of the United States, otherwise known as the Leader of the Free World. The man on the right is the Emperor of Japan.

Would someone please give me a good – and by good I mean one I can stomach – why The One is bowing (yet again) before a foreign monarch (yet again) at an angle which – were it any steeper – would cause him to fall over on his fool head?

Sigh.

I’d write more, but right now I’m afraid anything else I would type would violate the PG nature of this blog.

*this is a technical term which I cannot here expound upon.

I don’t get the fuss. Women go gaga over shoes all the time. He was trying to see if those were Rockports or Vans

OMG, my shoes need polishing again!

“Yes, Mr. President. I do see the 666 on the top of your head”.

Makes me yearn for the good old days when GHWB 41 was just bowing to hurl into the lap of the Japanese PM. *sigh*

A bow in respect for the customs of another country I can understand. What I don’t understand is the diminutive head down bow.

Someone on The Obamanations staff should have explained it:

    How to bow in Japan

“Let’s begin learning how to bow properly in Japan. Bowing seems simple, but there are different ways of bowing. It depends on the social status or age of the person you bow to. If the person is higher status or older than you are, you should bow deeper and longer. It is polite to bow, bending from your waist. Men usually keep their hands in their sides, and women usually put their hands together on their thighs with their fingers touching. If it is a casual situation, you can bow like nodding. The most frequent bow is a bow of about 15 degrees. You might feel strange to do it, but try to bow in Japan. You will be considered very polite.”

Breaking down this bow, 1: Not at 15 degrees. 2: Should not have shook hands. 3: Left hand in wrong “female” position.

To summarize: BHO just told Japan that he (and thus America) is their weak, lower social status female dog

Too bad the Emperor didn’t choose that exact moment to do a few high knee lifts.

I’ll go turn my front porch light on for the Secret Service guys now.

You are so over-reacting! It is a simple greeting in japan, nothing to worry about…or he tripped…or he was just trying to be at eye level with the very short emperor. I am sure a spokesman for the whitehouse will clarify this for all of us ignorant commoners soon.
