60 Plus, “a non-partisan seniors advocacy group with a free enterprise, less government, less taxes approach to seniors issues” is running the following ad. Will it work?

I like the fact that the 60+ Association is using the tactics of the left against them. I.e., they are saying — with good cause — that nationalized health care will put Medicare in an even more precarious shape than it’s in now. If this were a debate on whether or not Medicare is or was a good idea, I think 60+ would have a different message entirely. But if the question is, will this ad be effective? I’ll say that it will be effective.

(On a side note, I was surprised to see that I know at least two of the people in the ad. A couple others looked familiar. These are real people, not actors.)

The Obamanation only wants to replace one socialist healthcare plan with another. What’s the big deal?

      Yeah. My bad.

It’s rather ironic that one of the arguments here is against the government taking over healthcare, yet that’s exactly what it has done for most seniors who in the words of this ad are looking to “receive the healthcare we have earned”.

I would guess that their “earned” interpretation comes from being forced to pay taxes into the fund for the previous few decades of their lives. Your point of irony still makes sense though.

Yeah. They “earned” 4 of my dollars for every 1 of their dollars they put in.
