You might have heard there was a race for Governor in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The candidates for that seat met in a debate yesterday where the Democrat candidate, Creigh Deeds set off a small media frenzy by pledging not to raise taxes, but vowing to raise revenue for a transportation plan. I predict great things for Mr. Deeds. If he can raise revenue without raising taxes we can fund everything under the sun. Free healthcare! Free cars! Free houses! Free money! The sky is the limit. I can’t wait to hear the details. Check it out below:

I’m not going to raise taxes (for the general fund).

See? That wasn’t so hard was it?

I guess he just didn’t want to admit that he will raise taxes for specific programs if elected.

How about you just audit every single program in the state and determine which ones do not work or are too expensive to keep. I am sure you will find out that you can cut enough of these programs to fund a transportation plan.

Maybe he plans to sell his organs on the black market like the rest of the politicians lacking ______ (I’ll let you fill in the blank).

  • Cordeiro

That depends on what your definition of “is” is, and how you define “raise”, “revenue”, and “fund”.

Stephen, perhaps Mr. Deeds has found the vaunted money tree?
