Obama has called the Ted Kennedy the ‘greatest U.S. senator of our time’.

Wow. I’m shocked Obama doesn’t think Obama was the greatest U.S. senator of our time. All kidding aside, I had to read the headline twice.

Obama calls Kennedy ‘greatest U.S. senator of our time’

(CNN) – President Obama issued a statement Tuesday morning on the passing of Sen. Ted Kennedy:

For five decades, virtually every major piece of legislation to advance the civil rights, health and economic well being of the American people bore his name and resulted from his efforts.

I valued his wise counsel in the Senate, where, regardless of the swirl of events, he always had time for a new colleague. I cherished his confidence and momentous support in my race for the Presidency. And even as he waged a valiant struggle with a mortal illness, I’ve profited as President from his encouragement and wisdom.

An important chapter in our history has come to an end. Our country has lost a great leader, who picked up the torch of his fallen brothers and became the greatest United States Senator of our time.

How could Obama be the greatest senator of all time when a) his only legacy was to vote ‘present’, and b) he campaigned for a higher office the majority of his one and only term?

The funny thing is that every piece of legislation that had Kennedy’s name on it I knew was wrong for the country.

    You miss the point, Jason.

Obama doesn’t waste his own “greatness” on trivial things like being Senator. For Obama, he views himself as being the greatest human “of our time”……or any other time for that matter.

According to Chris Matthews, Obama is the brother of Ted. So he’s a Kennedy-by-proxy. That would allow Teddie the chance to bask in the reflected glow of the Annointed One.
