So, here we sit in the middle of the biggest populist uprising since…well, since “From Justin to Kelly” made its theatrical debut. (But that was a protest over mental health care only.) It’s anyone’s call right now as to whether or not the Hydra known as the Democratic Leadership will push and shove these two disasters-waiting-to-happen into law: cap-n-trade & health care.

I thought I’d open a discussion/debate on which of the two would have worse implications on the country as they are written now. C&T has the potential to lose a ginormous amount of manufacturing jobs, but HC could also bankrupt us (along with destroying 1/7 of the economy and wiping out private insurance as we know it). One could demoralize our desire to work, the other our desire to live a long life.

So make your best case – which is worse? Death or torture?

Drudge shows a white flag! Health Secretary has dropped the bomb that most socialist aspects of the O-Bomb plan are out.

We are seeing a major shift today and the invincibility of O-Bomb is ka-put!

Be of great cheer, all! We are winning. Now, lets reach over and grab Cap & Trade by the throat.

Good old Howie Screamin’ Dean is promising to have it back in by December. So it’s a hydra indeed, the fight is not even close to being over, as long as O is in the White House and the Princess and the Harry remain in the castle towers

With an approval rate of 47% this can only get worse for the Obamanation.

Yes! I will second Troy’s words of optimism, but using many more words to do – I am a Texan, after all…
I believe that neither item will now come to pass. The tide has turned, the “middle”, those independants who swing back and forth, are coming our way in droves.

Now, if we conservatives will just not gloat, but will get to work to offer responsible alternatives to address America’s needs, we should have a very nice election season in 2010. At that point, this brief flirtation with terminal socialism and the O-bomb will be completely defused.

I believe also that there has to be mucho going our way which we do not even know. Senators and congressmen who ARE NOT holding town halls, about 2/3s, still have friends, supporters, go to church, receive phone messages, e-mails and letters – they are, no doubt, being barraged with the same stuff the town halls produce. So, they will also returned to DC in shock.

It is indeed, the best of times, it is the worst of times…

Aren’t they BOTH torture? How to choose? Can I go with “D” – none of the above?

    Sorry RSE,
I cannot rank two unnecessary evils one over another. The “straw that broke the camel’s back” didn’t do it alone. We may not be able to legislate success, but the current trends seem to be trying to legislate failure. Worse than that, they’re actually working against God-given natural rights to life, liberty, property, and the pursuits of happiness and safety.

Practically, one makes us go to the “Post Office” of health care. The other ensures that we won’t be able to afford the “UPS” and “FedEx” of health care.
Of course, this all makes me ask, when the government doctors crack under pressure and start killing people, will we call it “going medical”?
