Obama’s, “We inherited this,†preamble is beginning to wear thin with Americans

Since his election, President Obama has used, “We inherited this,†as a preamble to every policy proposal and economic statement. Obama’s strategy is to shift responsibility from his administration back to the Bush administration in the event his economic policies fail. But reality is starting to sink in, and this political game is beginning to wear thin for Main Street Americans as unemployment continues to rise and the economy keeps sinking.
After listening to months of stump speeches by candidate Barack Obama touting his plans to fix the economy, Americans were more than ready to see some results. Unfortunately, the only results they have seen so far are the economy getting worse with no end in sight. Even as the mainstream media provides cover for the Obama administrations fruitless economic policies by putting a positive spin on a worsening economy, most Americans are experiencing a different story, and they are becoming increasingly anxious about the future and actually starting to doubt Obama’s capabilities to fix the economy.
On Sunday, July 5, Vice President Biden told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, “We misread how bad the economy was.†Biden’s honest admission gave the Obama-nomic naysayer surgeons a sharp new scalpel to try and separate Obama from his, “We inherited this,†preamble policy and place the current economic responsibility back on the Obama administration. However, in a desperate attempt to obstruct any surgery to remove the preamble, Biden also made sure that he said the economy was, you guessed it, “inherited†from the Bush administration.
Vice President Biden’s admission was tantamount to proving that the ultra-liberal Obama administration didn’t have a clue about America’s economic condition in January, or how to fix it, and it’s probably fair to assume that they don’t have a clue now. It also proves that liberals only seem to know one way to try and fix anything – throw more money at it. Recently, several Obama administration advisors helped verify that assumption by proposing a second stimulus bill. Who would have thought?
In an effort to divert attention from Biden’s statements that illuminated the administration’s incompetence to deal with the economy, President Obama said, “I would actually – rather than say misread, we had incomplete information,†and “What we always knew was that a) this recession was gonna be deep, and b) it was gonna last for a while.†Now isn’t that basically the same thing Vice President Biden said only with a healthy dose of political spin? Another savory three course meal of hook, line, and sinker for the “state-run†media to enjoy. But wait, there’s more. Obama offered up a most expensive dessert statement to tantalize their palate, “There’s nothing that we would have done differently,†and, “We needed a stimulus and we needed a substantial stimulus.†How yummy – check please?
As a result of having a brutally honest and incredibly ignorant Vice President, there are now three major reasons President Obama’s, “We inherited this,†preamble should be forever separated from his economic policies and statements: First, every president since George Washington has inherited the country in “as-is†condition. Second, when you campaign for so long and so hard on getting a specific job done, you better be more than certain you know how to get positive results. And third, if you don’t soon knock off the, “We inherited this,†preamble and man-up by taking full responsibility for the economy and your own policies, you will never get credit for fixing anything, and you will more than likely go down in the annals of Presidential history as the biggest fraud ever elected.

Neil, great post!
I’ve been yelling at my TV for sometime now that Obama wanted the job, so he just needs to own whatever it came with. OWN IT already!
Hmmm, why is the stimulus not working? Could it have anything to do with the fact that most of the money is not going to be spent for a few years? If it was really a stimulus, it should have all been spent, right away, as fast as we could.
And finally, if you are the President of the US, you better have the best and brigtest crunching your numbers and giving you the straight scoop. I think Obama’s people gave him the numbers he wanted to hear to sell his agenda, not the reality of what’s really going on. This goes back to my first point…you wanted the job, OWN IT!
Thanks EOE,
I love your, “OWN IT already” point.
He is coming off as a coward if he continues this.
Thanks back at ya Neil. I get really, really tired, really really fast with excuses…when I was teaching nothing tuned me out more than a bunch of whiny 10th graders giving me excuses.
Excuses are like belly buttons, we all have them, but I don’t want to see yours!
OWN IT! I think I’m going to get a vanity plate with that on it!!
I too am so tired of the inherited rhetoric. You “won” Mr Obama, now step up and take it like a man! I seriously think he has a complex, accompanied by soft skin. He can’t take any criticism, let alone anyone pointing any fingers at him. Which is why he complains about Rush Limbaugh and FoxNews…..the only folks raising questions and being critical of his policies (which is what the media is supposed to do). Get over yourself and get to work!
He can’t keep blaming past policies on the previous administration (which btw started before GWB), and he needs to recognize that the stimulus bill he was in such a hurry to sign back in February has had dismal results…..as many expected. You can’t spend your way out of debt and trouble. (And then to add a cap and tax bill and Obama care on top of that is going to be disastrous.) It’s high time he look in the mirror and realize that he is part of the problem.
hey Kristen,
What do you think Obama’s goal really is: To fix the economy or transform America into Obama-World?
GREAT post, Neil. THANK YOU!!
The “we inherited it” montra is so pathetic because he did not, as was pointed out, unherit anything. The man applied for a job and assured the voters that he knew what he was getting into and he knew how to fix it. Now, for those of us who laughed at the idea that a community organizer could become President with no executive experience….well, “America’s chickens…(turning in circles)… are coming home to roost!”
Oh!…lets not forget. We have yet to experience what this man’s failed foreign policy initiatives are going to bring.
Buckle Up, folks…its gonna be a bumpy ride.
Great post, Neil. A friend and i were having a debate over whether obama’s decisions are due to ignorance or evil. He argues evil in that this group is pushing headlong for socialism/communism/fascism as fast as they can and know these policies will push us that way. Also, obama learned the lesson of bill clinton: do whatever you want for the first 2 years, sacrifice the midterm elections and then govern more moderately in the second half of your term and the sheeple will forget what you tried to pull early on and re-elect you. He is just attempting to take that to a new level. Only time will tell if it works.
Thank you for putting it so very well Neil. It seems so simple to me. It is irrelivent where it came from. The problem is here and now and “I didn’t do it” “It’s not my fault” only makes me angry. It’s like when I’m getting my kids to clean up their toys. I don’t care who left what on the floor where, I said clean it up! All of you! LOL The threat of punishment is for all that don’t participate in the order given to clean up. Overly simple analogy? Probably, but it’s how I see POTUS’s behavior when he pouts and says “But America! (in whiny kids voice) I didn’t do it! It’s not fair to be upset with me! Why do I have to do all the work?!”
I so wish I could ground this group of so called administration!
Let’s figure out how we got here for history sake, but do it in an ivestigative you’re doomed to repeat if you don’t learn it kind of way.
President Obama, Be a Man! Reread your job description and do your job! At least you have a job in YOUR economy.
I love the kids cleaning up their toys example. I ran into similar teaching school…”But it’s not my fault..” blablabla!
OWN IT!!
By the way EOE, I am so glad I am not the only one that yells at the TV! LOL I know they can’t hear, but it makes me feel like I can keep my head from exploding over the idiocy!
If my poor DH didn’t know I was crazy when we got married, he sure knows it now. And oh the things our kiddos will have to tell Dr Phil!
My mum always said I should write politics or have a talk show with my overly opinionated opinions flying out of my fat yap all the time!
EOE,
Mrs. Shackelford is constantly yelling at BHO. If I see he is on a channel I might as well “keep flipping” because I am not gonna hear what he said anyway”.
Both of you. It is an inanimate object. Let it go.
The only long lasting solution solution to all of the social ills of humanity is to socialize that thing that we all have a common need for – LAND. It is something which mankind didn’t create but which we all need in order to live. In reality it is a Universal Birthright and all social collapses can be traced to attempts to sidestep this fundamentally basic Universal Law.
