Roger Simon at the Politico has a great column up today. He says Palin “can be the Republican nominee in 2012.” Not that she will be, “but that she can be.” He lists 7 things she must do.

To summarize (and in some cases paraphrase), he says she must:

1) not seek re-election as governor of Alaska (he says its too far away from Iowa and New Hampshire),
2) hire a great staff,
3) pick a handful of issues and stick with them (I think this is one of the most important steps he lists),
4) study up and rehearse before major interviews,
5) don’t believe you can’t do it,
6) don’t go changing (stick with her folksy style), and
7) don’t worry about failure (“heck, there’s always 2016”).
