Put this one down as yet another sign of how much the Clintons’ power in the Democratic Party has eroded.

Long time Clinton friend and political ally Terry McAuliffe was beaten in a three-way race for the Democratic nomination to succeed Tim Kaine as governor of Virginia:

A state senator and small-town lawyer pulled off a surprising win in Virginia’s Democratic primary for governor, besting a former legislative colleague and the well-funded Terry McAuliffe, the former chairman of the Democratic National Committee.

Tuesday’s victory by Democrat Creigh Deeds sets up a rematch this fall with Republican Bob McDonnell.

McAuliffe served in a variety of roles in both Bill and Hillary’s campaigns for the Presidency, most recently as the national chair for Hillary’s failed campaign against Barack Obama.

Have we seen the end of the Clinton/Bush era in American politics?

I wonder if Jeb will have anything to say about that…
