Obama, President or Caliph?

After today’s speech, it seems like Obama is more interested in being a Caliph than being President of the United States.

A cursory look at his credentials does seem to give him a leg up on any competition.

And it’s an obvious progression for someone who calls himself, “the one.”

Do you campaign for a position like that?

      Not for some time, Alaina.

      Too many people are vested in Obama with their hats, t-shirts, bumper stickers, posters, lunch-boxes, wall art, and all of the other things that this celebrity POTUS has inspired.

      Critical analysis of this man did not, is not, and will not come. African Americans have a vested interest in his success as well as the millions of whites who thought his presidency would eleviate their white guilt. News reporters have fawned, bowed, and gotten thrills up their legs from covering this man. Their reputations and credibility now rests in his perceived success.

      One of the things that candidate Obama was able to do was to get many Americans, ones who normally sit out the process because they dont know or care enough about issues to engage, to enter the political process. These are the people you see every day wearing his face on their clothing like the “Batman” fad of 1987.

      Alaina. Where exactly is the shrinkage in his poll numbers going to come from? Who will be the first to admit that their vote and support for this man was wrong?

      This is the age of celebrity and as long as are fawning over him his numbers will not change.

      What will happen, however, is that some event or events will occur in such a way that it will shake the foundation under our feet and force us out of our hypnotic state and wake us up to the fact that this man, an articulate minority community organizer who gave good speeches, should never have been elected POTUS. Then, we will see his poll numbers drop. Unfortunately, for us, its not a matter of if but when and to what severity will this occur.

        I expect they will rise in Europe, not so sure about here in the USA.

        I suspect when his numbers do begin to drop it will begin with Jewish Americans as he continues to throw Israel under the bus. I have never understood why, and how, so many Jewish Americans can continue to vote Democrat.

          So tell me the line of yesterday’s speech, that you would not agree with.

          The truth is, that he is not throwing Israel under the bus, but tries to support its security.

          Israel (and by the way the US) will never be safe with out an acceptable solution for the Palestinians and thats what Obama said yesterday basically.

          The key for Isreals safety is two states in the middle east under fair conditions. I am very sceptical that Israels current gouvernment knows that, I am very sceptical, that Obama is able to push the Israelis in that direction, I am sure, that even with two states peace will not “break out” over night, but I am hopeful, that American Jews see that complex connections and thus support Obama in his attempts.

            Israel agreed to a two state solution in the 1990’s and the Palestinians rejected it.

            It is hard to think about a two state solution, GO, when one side sides elected leaders have it written in theor charter to destroy the other state completely.

            From Obama’s speech: “any nation – including Iran – should have the right to access peaceful nuclear power”

            That is of course unless your country is the USA, as Obama will allow the USA to acces “peaceful nuclear power”.

            I am glad that many Europeans have now accepted the fact that Obama is the POTUS of the world, I only wish they would take him off our hands.

            The Palestine-problem is very very complex, Brian. The offer Barak made in the 90’s was far from acceptable. Why should Arafat have agreed to a Palestine-state which is territitorily divided into many different clusters, no water-supply and comprising only 22% of the land, that belonged to the Palestinians anyway before the Israelis invaded there country? Let’s speak about a FAIR deal and you will see, that even the Hamas can’t afford do deny it.

            Concerning the line you picked: it still is pretty unclear, up to whom it is to decide, who should be allowed to have nuclear power and who not. Not that I wished Iran should have it, far from it. But still I don’t see the argument I would tell their leaders to abdicate, whilst you have them, Israel has them … (and they learned, that it goes quickly to become invaded by the US if you don’t have the arms to defend yourself).

    A prediction. Obama’s cadence is going to make people crazy over the next four years. “He’s such a good speaker,” uh huh. It’s so predictable I can say the speech in the exact same rhythm without ever hearing him give it. Seriously, I’d rather listen to Bush or Clinton any day.

    Inspired by the famous online Star Wars drinking game, I have adopted and modified some of the rules to get us through the next few years with a smile…or hangover.

    Basically, every time one of the listed events occurs, everybody takes a sip of their drink.

    • R2-D2 gets thrashed. / Robert Gibbs gets thrashed
    • A Rebel pilot is of a race other than white / A Republican is of a race other than white
    • The Emperor cackles evilly. / Dick Cheney cackles evilly
    • The Emperor has foreseen something. / Cheney predicts something bad will happen

    Now you all will feel the impact of the Oba-wan. As you stumble around drunk for 4 years, don’t worry–all your 24/7 hand-holding rehab will be paid for by the few remaining abstainers whose jobs are taxed at 75% to pay for all that coverage.
