Last week, I theorized that Arlen Specter’s switch to be a Democrat could help the Republicans in Pennsylvania by giving an opportunity for former governor and cabinet secretary Tom Ridge to run.

I also said I didn’t think Ridge would run.

Then again, maybe he will.

The article also confirms some of my feelings on the potential races between Specter and Toomey and Specter and Ridge:

Polling suggests that Ridge would be more competitive than Toomey against Specter, who left the GOP last week, in a general election. In a new survey by Quinnipiac University, Specter leads Ridge by a narrow margin of 46 percent to 43 percent, while he holds a 20-point margin over Toomey.

In other words, Ridge would be competitive against Specter, whereas Toomey would get taken to the woodshed.

So now we wait and see if Ridge will actually run, so tune in next week for another episode of “As the Keystone State Turns”.

Update*** Ridge is out.
