This time they were using their first amendment rights by expressing outrage and frustration with excessive taxes and seemingly endless government bailouts. From what I’ve seen reported, I don’t think any rioting or destruction were involved; and no tear gas needed by city police. Man those right-wingers are dangerous.

Thing is, people from all walks–-Democrat, Republican, Independent–were in attendance to these tea parties across the nation. This wasn’t a ‘conservatives only’ demonstration. People (Americans) are simply fed up with big government and the mortgaging of our children’s future…….exemplified by our previous administration, and sped up by the current one.

But, is this what Janet Napolitano meant when she issued that nine-page Homeland Security report about ‘right-wing extremism’ warning of ‘Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment’? Mind you, this is the same woman who has announced that terrorist attacks like those portrayed on 9/11 aren’t terrorist attacks, but rather man-made disasters. And The War on Terror is just too vicious a term; so the Obama administration prefers the softer and less offensive term, Overseas Contingency Operation. (Doesn’t all this PC-ness just make you feel better inside?)

Interesting how this report came out April 7th, one week before the nationwide tea parties–which NBC claimed as not having really ‘caught on’–planned in 800 cities from coast to coast. The report claims:

Rightwing extremism (are) those that are mainly anti-government, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely……..It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration.

The report also listed gun owners and veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars as potential risks. Guess I better rethink that gun purchase.

So, people who protest peacefully are suddenly terrorists? Funny. What would you call the people who rode buses to the neighborhoods of AIG executives, protested in front of their homes, and issued death threats?

The outrage expressed today is justified. People are tired of handing over their hard-earned cash to government officials who squander it in the name of bailouts, handouts, and overall big government. Between sales tax, property tax, federal and state income tax, social security tax, gas tax, car registration; taxes on the utility bill, the gas bill, the water bill, the cell phone bill, the cable bill……it’s a bit much. I mean, is there anything that doesn’t get taxed? I would have been out there today in my neck of the woods, but the snow and cold were rather intimidating.

But I have to think had our Founders been alive, they’d have joined the masses.
