The 90% lie

I’ll be blunt and call this for what it is instead of being so PC about it.

The Obamanation is lying to you about where weapons in Mexico originate.
They are doing this in order to re-instate the assault weapons ban.

Only a Small Fraction of Guns in Mexico Come From U.S.

You’ve heard this shocking “fact” before — on TV and radio, in newspapers, on the Internet and from the highest politicians in the land: 90 percent of the weapons used to commit crimes in Mexico come from the United States.

– Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said it to reporters on a flight to Mexico City.

– CBS newsman Bob Schieffer referred to it while interviewing President Obama.

– California Sen. Dianne Feinstein said at a Senate hearing: “It is unacceptable to have 90 percent of the guns that are picked up in Mexico and used to shoot judges, police officers and mayors … come from the United States.”

– William Hoover, assistant director for field operations at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, testified in the House of Representatives that “there is more than enough evidence to indicate that over 90 percent of the firearms that have either been recovered in, or interdicted in transport to Mexico, originated from various sources within the United States.”

There’s just one problem with the 90 percent “statistic” and it’s a big one:

It’s just not true.

In fact, it’s not even close. By all accounts, it’s probably around 17 percent.

    I think this one is outrageous. Obama’s nose has grown so long, if he’s not careful when he drops his keys he’ll unintentionally discover oil.

    I don’t know, i’ve seen the video of weapons the mexican army captured from the US, you know civilian weapons like M203 grenade launchers, RPG’s, fully automatic M16′s and M4′s. Oh and all those hand grenades we buy off Wal-mart shelfs.

    Not talked about in the press but the Guard and Reserves have reported “losses” of weapons, as well as AD place. I wonder how many of these US weapons were sold the Mexican army, (from the US) then transfered to the drug gangs.

    As came out today, the Mexican Army only reports the guns that have serial numbers. Well over 75% of the guns they confiscate do not have serial numbers, so the thinking is they come from somewhere south of Mexico and are not American made. Hillary must have been hearing machine guns again as she said she did on her last trip to Iraq during the campaign.

    Leave it to Hillary to say something that’s blatantly wrong and leave it to the media to spread it around and then something is automatically fact.

    Reminds me of the time when I heard a high school girl give a speech back after the movie Titanic came out. She was intelligent enough to do the math when towards the end of the movie they say “1400 people went into the water, and only 16 were found alive” or whatever the numbers were. She wasn’t intelligent enough to verify if those numbers were actually correct. As is the rest of the country apparently.

    And you can bet that the majority of that 17% came from US weapons sales to the Mexican military who then turned around and sold them to the drug cartels.
