Watch this clip and tell me this isn’t the most blatant attempt to curry favor with conservatives and rise to the top of our 2012 White House Power Rankings. It’s so obvious I’m surprised he wasn’t wearing a PoliticalDerby.com tie.

    Who cares???? 2010 comes first

  • AVB

    Sanford/Flake (AZ rep)
    Flake/Sanford
I think I might actually be able to vote for that ticket.

  • Brian H

The Republican farm team is very deep, talented, and conservative. As much as I love Reagan it is time for the GOP to stop trying to find the next “Reagan” and find fresh faced idealists who can articulately share that a vote for conservatism is avote for individual responsibility and freedom.

    • Gary Russell

Preach on, Brother B, Preach on!

    • David Kaiser

The farm team may be deep, but the current starters make the Detroit Lions look like the ’72 Miami Dolphins.

      • Brian H

Who are the current starters for the GOP?

    • Red State Eddio

Agrered. I’ve been saying that for months brother.

Look at the NFL. Who are the hot coaches? All the new guys with fire in the belly and a clear vision of where to go (Smith, Harbaugh, Wisenhunt, Tomlin, Sparano, etc.). Retreads like Billick, Gruden, etc. could possibly be sitting on the outside for a long time if the trend continues to go well.

      • Troy La Mana

And my favorite rookie coach was one step away from the Superbowl.

Rookie coach, rookie QB.. nice job Ravens.

        • Red State Eddio

Dude, it only gets better next year.

  • Alaina Segovia

Ooohhh… I think I love him too. He and Michael Steele would make a great pair (not necessarily for P/VP, but leading the party).

I really would have like to heard the response when he asked, “Whose money is it?”

  • Brian H

WOW! Great video. Thanks for sharing this.

I know little of Sanford but will give another look or two from what I have just seen. Thanks Again.

Speaking of PD gear, why did I not get me a PD shirt to wear to the Obama pep-rally on Jan. 20th? That would have been too awesome to have a pic of me wearing that amoung the flock of kneelers before General Zod.

  • Kristen

5 minutes of him and I like him. He’d have my vote.

  • Fabs

All he has to do is say “y’all” a few times in each of his speeches and I’m sure he’d steal some of the female vote from Palin. I got a little weak in the knees when he said it in the video clip. :)

But I’d have to agree with everyone else. Overall, he seems top quality as far as politicians go. He wouldn’t face the “flip-flopper” label Romney has either.

  • Rob

I’ve been saying all along that he’s the best candidate for 2012. He’s a great balance of true conservatism and mainstream appeal.

    • Brian H

      Nice call, Rob. I agree.

Got the Texas lotto numbers for Saturday by any chance?

      • Rob

Check your email in a bit. ;)

  • Gil Rice

Sanfords got my vote for whatever he runs for. Northeastern New York type liberals have no clue as how to fix the mess or listen to someone who does. Levin and Rangel are just Bama Boobies along for the ride!!!!!!

    • Gary Russell

I’m not familiar with the term “Bama Boobies”.
(though I AM from ‘Bama, and, well…)
      Clarify?

      • David Kaiser

‘Bama Boobies as in Obama Boobs I believe.

        • Gary Russell

I’m actually embarrassed that I let that one go over my head!

‘Bama Boobies – I had other images floating in my head, I guess. :)

          • Brian H

            I prefer Texas boo…….nevermind.

            • Gary Russell

Well, they do say that everything is bigger in Texas!

  • Gary Russell

Jason, I know you posted this with a little bit of “tongue in cheek”, but what is the difference between speaking from your convictions vs. trying to curry favor?
From everything I’ve heard, this dude is a true believer. I don’t think he’s pandering.

  • Red State Eddio

Jason, send him a complimentary PD mug, for goodness sake.

  • Troy La Mana

I like Sanford the more I hear him speak.

  • Clint

Sanford 2012 would be great. A true conservative who is willing to fight! I am from SC, and he has never laid down to anyone here and it has made him unpopular with some people, but he still stands true to conservative principles.

    • Clint

The question would be, Sanford and who?

      Sanford/Jindal 2012?

      • dw

        Sanford and son? ;-)

Seriously, I really liked what I heard. I’d like to see a Sanford/Huckabee or Huckabee/Sanford ticket.

        • Shawn Naegle

          Huckabee!?

        • Brian H

I like Huck but he can not win on a national level. Just my opinion.

  • Rick Hendrix

I have to tell you … I heard Governor Sanford speak at a State Policy Network dinner in Charleston right before the 2006 election. Conservative morale, as you’ll recall, was VERY low. But Governor Sanford gave us a great pep talk about why it was so important to keep fighting. A couple of us went up to him afterward and told him we were ready to sign up for the Sanford 2008 campaign. We’ll see about 2012, but I would keep him near the top.

  • WilliamK

    Where can I get a PoliticalDerby.com tie?

  • Eric

But, Jason, you failed to mention Rangel’s stellar performance. Sanford would not have looked so good without Rangel’s assistance.
