I, too, have underestimated the creepiness
Posted on October 5th, 2008 at 8:53 pm by BrianMy favorite commercial is the E-Trade baby with the clown. At the end of the commercial the baby says he “underestimated the creepiness” of renting a clown. Too funny.
We have all laughed and chuckled at the jokes and pokes about Barry Obama being “The One”, “The Messiah” and the “hope we have been waiting for”, but I too have underestimated the creepiness of the devotion that many of the Obama-Flock seem to have adopted about this guy. From the Che style shirts, Che posters in campaign offices, over the top rhetoric and Obama Presidential seals, the “Cult of Personality” that is Barak Obama has taken on a life of its own.
I am sure we all seen these videos posted on the net but I believe they are deserving of discussion on PD.
It is time to take the gloves off, “my friends”. Camp-McCain should have these clips in ads within the week if they are serious about winning this election.

PLEASE tell me the liberal lemmings turned socialists have not gone completely and totally off the deep end to communism!!! As truly nauseating as it is, I am afraid it appears so…small children singing praise and worship songs (penned by teachers), eerily Chi-commish clothing, certain ties to radical anti-americans…the list is long. Are Americans completely forgetting we do not live in Mother Russia? Government will not save us, will not take care of us, is not what we should believe in or worship. Its job is to keep us safe-to allow us to protect life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It’s never been the role of our government to provide opportunity- but it is our priviledge to make our own. I pray this country may never fall into the slippery slope of mandated income redistribution, health programs or Obama praise-singing!!!
I am afraid you prayers have gone unanswered, Lea. Mandated income redistribution and health programs is the platform of the Democrat Party, the party winning this election.
Can we say…..brain washing?
I wonder if that little girl was traded in at the last minute to replace an uglier one.
Next thing you know, this will be taught in schools across the nation. Scary.
This a clear example of Godwin’s Law:
“”As a Usenet discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches one.”"
This a logical fallacy known as Reductio ad Hitlerum people use in order to defame someone’s character: by comparing them to Hitler. Bush tried this earlier in the year, but it rarely sticks because it is pretty dumb to make any sort of leap in logic about two very different people with two very different philosophies.
You guys think this is brainwashing. Looks like an ad to me.
J,
I’ve read Brian’s post and the subsequent comments twice, looking for Hitler references.
The only one that I see is yours.
Am I missing something?
Brian,
I was going to post the link to the school kids singing Obama’s praises. Glad you got to it. I agree, really creepy. Not to mention sickening.
OK, J, I’ve found the “Hitler” references (not on this website, but on “Youtube”).
I had not seen “The Obama Pledge” before. Wow. The extremely sad thing about this is that, if (when?) Obama is NOT elected, so many minority youths have been brainwashed to think that “because Obama was not elected, I’m not good enough to become the next … (engineer, etc.)”
Call me crazy, but couldn’t these kids teachers/drill instructors/mentors make better use of their time and resources by teaching these kids that they have more opportunities in the US than in any other country, and that “Yes they can” suceed in the USA.
I apologize for making it sound like Brian said the Hitler comments. I just clicked on the link and thought: Godwin’s law. Now like, I said this an ad, like any other ad. The kids are told to sing a song, like you are told to say good things about McCain’s maverickness. This is not brainwashing plain and simple.
Obama’s candidacy is exactly these kids need: hope. As a former minority youth, and now just a regular minority now, I was born being told that there was certain things I could not do because the color of my skin (I am a dark skinned Asian). If I told anyone about any aspirations to be President, I would be laughed at it. Just being able to reach that level, especially with all the racism that exists in this country, is extremely hopeful. And if the hardest, highest office in the world is possible, then that speaks volumes about what else is possible. To tell the kids “Hey Obama might lose so don’t get your hopes up that you can aspire to be anything you want” is not just cynical. It’s un-American.
Brian,
Call me a kook, but i think we are far past the point of socialism or of stopping this cult of personality. I am rapidly falling in line with some of the ron paul supporters (wish the message would have had a little less of a crazy messenger but the message to some degree was sound).
I am yet to have any Obama supporter tell me why they are voting for him other than ‘change’ and ‘no more republicans’.
As a resident of Illinois which is run at all levels by democrats and is in debt and in trouble in multiple ways (and which was not healed by the Obamamessiah’s magic touch in our legislature) i have a pretty good idea what is coming nationwide and it aint pretty. Though it has been a while since the mob had control of the whitehouse so it may be interesting.
Brings images of Andrew Jackson’s mobs “storming” the White House after his victory in 1829 - only this time its the tree hugging, godless-atheistic, Euro-lovin’, “haven’t showered in a week to save the earth” crowd.
Sorry if i didn’t elaborate on ‘mob’. Illinois is run by the Chicago mob. One of the few states left with such an openly known problem. Obama is a figurehead who has been groomed by several of them. Notice we hear very little about how obama went from law student to ‘community organizer’ to politician. There were several influences…but we arent allowed to question his associations, are we? Isn’t ‘community organizer’ what capone’s boys used to be called when they were running the neighborhoods?
I dont disagree with you at about many of the messages of Ron Paul, or his supporters. I too agree that he was not the right messenger though.
When I see these kids it reenforces why this election is TOO IMPORTANT to sit out of by casting a wasted vote for a candidate who will end up with as many electoral votes as I will, zero.
Oh, and what is the creepiness factor of our entire government being run currently by ‘rented clowns’?
Wow, these are really disturbing!!
As in the video clips, not your comments, BTW!
I think I will go throw-up now. Kids will become excited and enthusiastic about anything that you teach them. They are so vulnerable. This is sad, and like kristen said, brainwashing.
Very sad, indeed. None of what those young men aspire to is possible with Obama. It is possible DESPITE Obama.
Obama has faced insurmountable odds to become the nominee. He has taken the old notions of race in politics and turned them around. Like Jackie Robinson, who had the run the bases with jeers from the crowd, Obama has kept his cool despite the negative, unfair, and sometimes racist attacks. He has broken the glass ceiling, and now these kids can aspire to be what they want to be without reservation.
Thanks for sharing that, Jay. It is GREAT to see what motivates many to vote for Barak Obama.
How can you begin to compare what Jackie Robinson endured with the love-fest that has been bestowed upon Obama?
Every politician recieves negative, unfair, racist attacks. Every one. (and yes, white candidates are subject to racist attacks, particularly if they have an “R” after their name - just look at past campaign comments by the NAACP and the self-anointed leaders of minorities).
Obama has not endured any more attacks (most would say far less so) than McCain, Bush, Kerry, Gore, Clinton, et al.
You can’t begin to compare that to Jackie Robinson, who played the game and lived his life in such a way as to deserve nothing but praise and adoration, yet was unfairly subjected to some of humanity’s ugliest treatment.
To say that the kids could not be architects, engineers or any other of the careers they mentioned without Obama is a disservice to those who are already in those positions, and who were in those positions before Barack was able to walk.
Yes, it is great that the country has progressed to the point where Obama can be the POTUS. But, that in no way enables those kids to reach their goals.
So true. I worked for 5 years in a juvenile detention center, I would LOVE to see where these kids are at after the next four years. LOL
Would anyone like to make some predicitons?
It takes more in life than an occasional Obama-Stomp to reach success.
I am not saying that these kids could not before. What I am saying is they have a new hope. A black president sends a message to minorities that only a black president: in America, you can become anything you want. If the presidency is the hardest office to achieve, and anyone can achieve it, then anything is possible. That’s not to say other professions were not possible before. His election would be proof that the American Dream is still alive and well.
Should I be inpired by the fact that Obama will become President because of his race, not in spite of it?
This is what government run schools are making kids do now. Laugh if you want to but can’t you just see President Obama replacing the Pledge of Allegiance with this stuff? It’s not that hard to imagine now, is it?
Precisely why my children do not and will not set foot in government schools…
It’s creepy beyond belief. I don’t understand why the McCain campaign doesn’t play hardball with this guy. He’s ushering in socialism in America by exploiting fears, preying on the idiot vote, and manipulating young people. He is the most fraudulent candidate for Presidency in our history. If McCain got serious about winning, an ad with these videos would be playing 24/7 nationwide until Election Day. Just completely sickening.
