John McCain and Barack Obama both showed up tonight for the forum with Rick Warren at Saddleback church. Both candidates did very well. Obama wins if for no other reason than he showed up and spoke to evangelicals. The message he brought was clear. We may not agree on everything, but we agree on more than we disagree.

If Obama hit a home run, John McCain struck the ball out of the park and it’s still sailing. He was clearly at ease. His answers were concise. At times he answered questions before Pastor Warren had finished the questions. While Obama at times gave professorial answers, McCain was prepared to share his experiences as a POW, a senator, and a father. At other times it seemed as if McCain may had written the questions himself.

Pull up a chair. The general election has begun!
