Because it’s a horserace…

McCain to announce VP this week?

Posted on July 21st, 2008 at 5:48 pm by David Kaiser, Editor

Bob Novak’s blog is reporting that we may learn the identity of John McCain’s Vice Presidential nominee:

Sources close to Sen. John McCain’s presidential campaign are suggesting he will reveal the name of his vice presidential selection this week while Sen. Barack Obama is getting the headlines on his foreign trip. The name of McCain’s running mate has not been disclosed, but Mitt Romney has led the speculation recently.

How do you feel about McCain-Romney?

Maybe I am thinking too inside the box; but I think he should wait until after Obama’s choice just to see if that makes a difference.

    Why not?

Ater all, as John Nance Garner, first VP to F. Roosevelt, stated in most eloquent Texanese, “The office of vice-president isn’t worth a warm bucket of spit.”

    No big deal, really.

What Big Mac needs more is gettin’ tough and gettin’down on gas and taxes…

    Whodat not impressed by VPs

If McCain does announce this week, it’s because he feels he has to. Obama’s had a pretty good week in his foreign tour, and it is a tour he took after McCain ripped him for not going to Afghanistan in years and not visited Iraq.

    Oops.

McCain outing his VP candidate would be a way to try to get the news cycle back in his pocket.

Hey Lib, talk about having the Media in your pocket, he do, Obama!
      The Times typically unfair and
The “Big 3″: 2 boys and CBS’s mama.

Headed up to Mass next week for
Vacation - my wife is from the-ah.
Playing golf near the Cape and
      Eatin’ “lobstah” without a care.

But, I won’t drink the water cause
It might make me liberal or crazy..
And, I won’t drive off bridges in
The night, then say my memory’s hazy

I can’t defend the NYT thing really, but enjoy the golf and the lobsters!

Whodat - We just vacationed on the Cape in May. Just gorgeous! I had lobstah chowdah just about every day. Whale watching was incredible, too. Have a great time!

Thanks to y’all. I enjoy my visits up they-ah. Folks are friendly, food is good. And, it is really nice to golf where there are no poisonous snakes - makes ball retrieval so much less stressful!

By the way, after being married to a Yankee for 31 years, I fully understand how my side lost that war…

          Whodat

(Married 31 years? If I had just robbed a bank, I could have been out after 5 with good behavior!)

Announcing your foreign policy before you go on a trip that smacks of publicity and being forced because McCain called you out on your lack of experience does not a good week make.

This is the only way McCain would get my vote.

    1. kristen on 22.07.2008 at 11:14 (Reply)

      And my vote.

McCain isn’t going to announce this week, but this was leaked to get the rumor mill spinning and get him a bit of coverage as Obama sucks up most of the oxegyn with Maliki’s endorsement of his withdrawl plan and foreign tour

Not so fond of the McCain part, but Romney has the skill-set we need.

If the VP choice is what is really driving your decision then you never had a solid choice in the first place.

    1. RedstateEddio on 23.07.2008 at 06:34 (Reply)

Exactly. But the VP choice could soothe some of my irritation and dismay at the Republican party. Bunch of meatheads can’t give me a single decent daggone conservative to vote for…yes, the VP choice is important to me too.

I think Mac Camp gave Novak a False Story to get the Media off Obama for a few days…. 2 days of its going to happen, and then 2 days conversing that Mac tricked them.

If he is going to announce let him do it after the Dem Convention, good strategically.

About Mccain/Romney my stomach is going to barf. Palin, or Sanford for this blogger. Gosh, even Huckabee i’d take before Romney.

What does Romney add? MI is about it, what else? Maybe a western State but besides? I can see quite of a few red States in the South turning Dem. Hi Obama, Bye Mac and Mitt. Vote 2012 against Obama.
