Even a broken clock is right twice a day, right? Well even a goofy name for a web site like Political Derby is right once in a blue moon, and on the biggest day horse racing has seen in 5 years, our name is on the money, baby!

Check out these cosmic parallels:

Today a horse (Big Brown) with the most arrogant, self-absorbed trainer (Dutrow) we’ve seen in a long time, was beaten badly in his quest for history by a long shot.

Today a horse (Hillary) with the most arrogant, self-absorbed trainer (Bill) we’ve seen in a long time, was beaten badly in her quest for history by a long shot.

I rarely root against people, but this Dutrow clown was a colossal horse’s fannie, and as much as I would have liked to see Big Brown win for his jockey’s sake, I smiled broadly when he lost. Dutrow the Ego had it coming–big time.

As for Hillary, everyone’s presumptive nominee since 2004, there is joy to be had in knowing she expected it, she thought it would be handed to her, she thought the other horses shouldn’t be taken seriously, and she was beaten by a stud who two years ago had about the same odds as Denny Kucinich. Bill the Ego had it coming–big time.

The only lingering question is, who looks more like a horse? Big Brown or Hillary?
