I understand why we watch.

I'm still unsure why I should care enough to watch the last few primaries. Why not just tune in again in Denver? If anything substantial happens before then, I'm sure to hear about it, neh?

Whoa, Red Ed, busted on my Utz junk! How'd ya know, hon?

Truly, this election cycle is like slowing down to watch that steaming car wreck on the shoulder. But after you see 47 car wrecks, the urge to slow down recedes...

On Toby: Isn't the point of PD to stimulate the marketplace of ideas? Let's all agree to disagree. Namecalling reduces the caller to the level of that 12-year-old snagging secret computer time.

Back to your original post SA...
When it became clear that the race would be McCain vs HRC or BO i no longer watched because i 'cared' as i see all 3 as major problems. We all watch for the same reason most TV shows are popular...entertainment (and yes, that is a sad commentary on the state of our great nation).

John Kerry has lied about his service and there is doubt he earned those medals he threw away.

I have nothing bad to say about Wrights military service. It is what he stands for now that makes him appear un-American.

McCain has done more for this country then all three of your guys and should never have his patriotism questioned.

That being said, I'm not voting for McCain. He is Liberal-Lite to me. (Although not as much as Rudy or Romney).

I'm not voting for the two Democrats that are less qualified then McCain either.

I'm hoping that Bob Barr gets the LP nod but I'll still vote LP either way.

Speaking of absurd, I never called any of the people you just mentioned un-American. In fact you dipstick, if you read my post I specifically said I would not call either Kerry or Wright un-American, nor have I ever said Obama was.

So take your fake, holier-than-thou, completely unfounded attitude and shove it.

The only thing absurd here is you still writing.

this is truly absurd. its perfectly okay to call John Kerry unamerican, Jerimiah Wright unamerican, even Obama unAmerican by association, but dare to use the word to describe McCain, and you're Stalin all of a sudden.

SA - You can care because now you know a whole lot more about your candidate, and you have a greater conviction of why you'd want to vote for him/her. Having a short election cycle could allow someone to "hide the skeletons" before the election until it is over, and then we're stuck with whatever pops out at that point. We could be making serious mistakes with a very brief process, and then what do we do for 4 years?

This way, your convictions are just that - certainties about your candidate. Or, with all that comes out between all parties, you're also gifted with the freedom and ability to change your mind. The longer cycle allows you to do that as well.

Is it perfect? No way. But at least we cannot say "we didn't know" or never had the chance to find out.

Besides, if nothing else, it allows you to down another bag of Utz' "Old bay" potato chips while you're watching George Stephanopoulos ask goofy Q's on TV. Now THAT'S entertainment!

I usually don't bash posters, but I just feel that his comments were completely out of line.

Dislike McCain all you want, but if you call that man un-American, you may as well be Stalin.

I know I tease the Ron Paul people a lot, but I'll take their passion for a movement over bashing someone stupidly.

This Toby nut has been making himself look back on here for a long time, and not just because he's pro-Obama. I know lots of smart people that are voting for Obama, but they make reasonable arguments. Sometimes I wonder if Toby's a 12-year old whose parents don't know he's using the computer.

I'm not sold on McCain either, especially recently, but to call him un-American is like spitting in the face of anyone who has served our nation's armed forces.

It's just dumb.

Sorry Toby, neither Wright or Kerry spent years as a POW, tortured in North Vietnam. I'm not aware of Wright's military experience, and I'm familiar with Kerry's. I would not say I'm a fan of either man, but I wouldn't call them "un-American".

Just because someone isn't of the same mindset does not make them unpatriotic.

Disagree with him personally and politically, but don't degrade his service. You make yourself look bad.

Agreement on McCain's necessary defeat. I don't view him as unAmerican. He's got too much in the (karma) bank for that designation.

I do, however, consider him dangerous on several levels. See the Washington Post's recent front page story on his temper.

Want that answering the 3 a.m. phone call?

I do agree with this (to a point). I'm certainly going to vote Dem, whoever snares the nom. But why should I care about the rest of the primaries? Why shouldn't I just take a vacation until Denver?

tell that to John Kerry or Jerimiah Wright- both of whom could be considered military heroes in their own right

John McCain insults our intelligence and moral sensibilities, so I have no problem exposing the utter lack of character the man has, willing to sell out any and every principle for power, regardless of how insulted he is.

He's not a great man, or even a good one. And he stands against everything, in my opinion, that makes America great.

Toby, Toby, Toby.

John McCain may be a lot of things, including insane, but to call him un-American is insulting.

He may be wrong, but the man is still a hero. That is quite a disgusting statement.

you should care because John McCain is a truly insane and evil unAmerican piece of scum who's worse than Bush on foreign policy, and as bad as Bush on domestic policy, in that he really doesn't have one besides a few pandering proposals to distract from the terrible things he's wreaking all over the world. The choice between John McCain and Obama is so truly stark- we need a patriot who will protect America in office, so John McCain MUST be defeated
