Fred Thompson is getting a small boost from his stellar debate performance and Fred Heads are reaching deep to show him their support. According to Politico:

Fred Thompson has raised over $200,000 online since his boffo debate performance [Thursday] night, says spokesman Todd Harris. For a candidate who is putting everything on South Carolina, the showing could not have come in a better place (Myrtle Beach) or on a better network (Fox) or at a more critical time (just over a week before the South Carolina primary).

With a fresh infusion of cash, Fred is running the following ad in South Carolina.

YEAH guys, but she might bring that crucial Alaska vote to the GOP? Not to mention being a key player if named as VP early for that all crucial Eskimo caucus.

Cash hasn’t helped Romney, who has spent more than all the other candidates combined thus far.

However, Romney also is up on Thompson in all the polls by leaps and bounds. He also does lead in the total electorial votes thus far, even though he hasn’t placed first yet in a primary.

If anybody thinks more–even much more–cash is going to help Thompson, they also believe Duncan Hunter was just kidding about leaving the race.

Big delegate states like California and New York aren’t even going to place Fred in fourth place, maybe not even fifth.

Nope, he can hang in the race until Jeri tells him it’s ok to drop out of he wants, but he would be far better off grabbing that Paul Harvey radio gig fast, before Tony Snow gets it, instead.

    Earl P,
And KITTEN KILLERS, too! Don’t forget that ALL politicians, except Ron Paul, are closet kitten-killers! I even think that its possible that Ron Paul, having delivered so many babies, is the ONLY politician upon this planet who loves babies – the others would institute policies to do away with all babies. I know its true!!!

OR…could we both be engaging in a little hyperbole??

Fred is working on behalf of racist McCain. John McCain was overtly racist in the SC debate, read it here:
John McCain racsim in SC debate
Unfortunately it took segregationist Governor Wallace to reveal the truth that “there’s not a dime’s worth of difference between” Republicans and Democrats. The Democrats willingly went along with the War in Iraq, suspension of Habeas Corpus, detaining protesters, banning books like America Deceived (book) from Amazon, stealing private lands (Kelo decision), warrant-less wiretapping and refusing to investigate 9/11 properly. They are both guilty of treason.
Support Dr. Ron Paul and save this great nation.

    KA-CHingggg! Jason!

Remember the group ‘Its My Party Too’ anyone?
That’s the RINO club of Christie Todd Whitman. It is unfortunate but some of the names mentioned to date are members of Christie’s gang.

The GOP has no middle or right of center woman candidate. Many are left of center these days. Dole?

Back to Fred… did he wake up yet?

  • Jason Wright, Editor

Moderate Republican? Kaiser, Kaiser, Kaiser, are you sneaking extra doses of cold medicine again? If she’s a moderate republican then Ted Kennedy is a moderate democrat. She’s Queen of the RINO’s. She grew up a democrat and switched parties when she married a prominent republican.

She supports abortion rights, gay rights, campaign finance reform, strong environmental protections, voted against Clinton’s impeachment. The list goes on and on.

    Dole would be interesting, however.

Yes, Sarah Palin of Alaska is an attractive and popular female Republican governor. Whether she has the gravitas to handle national issues is yet to be seen. Plus, 3 electoral votes that were going to go Republican anyway… just not enough there to make it worthwhile.

  • David Kaiser

Well, I don’t know about “left of Kucinich”, but I’ll agree she is a moderate Republican.

  • Gary Russell

    Olympia Snowe?????????
    Really???
She’s just to the left of Kucinich.
    Not a PRAYER.

On the other hand, I hear that Alaska has a hot, I mean, conservative new female governor.

  • David Kaiser

Olympia Snowe from Maine and Elizabeth Dole are two strong female candidates that leap to mind.

  • RobA

Brings up a good point. Does the GOP have any reasonable female VP candidates? I like Condi, but she’s too tied to Bush, and she probably needs a break anyway. Do we have a strong female, or a minority candidate to put in the VP slot??

  • george schumer

It is hard to see how at this point anyone can stop McCain. He has gone way ahead in the national polls, and leads in Mich and SC. If those leads hold up, bye-bye Mitt and bye-bye Huck.

I thought McCain was anathema to the conservative wing, but the polling indictes maybe not so much. Conservatives are probably wise to temper their resistance, as McCain is likely the strongest GOP contender, someone who has been vetted and can draw Latino vote.

Thompson looks like a reasonable VP choice, though, and should things get truly messy (e.g., Huck steals Mich and rolls in SC), leading to a brokered convention, Fred might have enough appeal to get a look. Don’t bet on it.

Yes, nice performance, Fred; perhaps it will earn you the VP nod. Against Obama it makes sense; against Hillary a woman might be needed.

  • RobA

I hear a lot of talking heads saying Fred won the debate or did well. I really don’t agree. I think he did so poorly in the other debates (and his entire lackluster, lethargic campaign so far) that the bar has been lowered for him. The fact that he appeared awake and had a few canned attacks on Huck shows a sign of life. The base is so fractured that they are getting a glimpse of the guy they thought they were getting back in Sept. I felt he came off heavily scripted and not entirely authentic. I’ve always had the feeling that he doesn’t necessarily ‘want’ to be Prez, but he thinks he ‘can’ be Prez. In fact, when asked recently to make his case as to why he should be nominated, he said something along the lines of “because I’ve never lost an election”.

I don’t think he helps the GOP at this point. We need to narrow down the field and Fred’s just taking up space right now.
