New Hampshire Gov. John Lynch predicted that 500,000 people would show up to the polls in New Hampshire today, and he may not be far off.

Massive turnout is being reported, with some polling places running low on Democratic ballots. This would make one believe that the independents are turning out for the Democratic party in droves.

If that is the case, the potential for a Barack Obama blow-out of Hillary Clinton is increased and the battle between Republicans John McCain and Mitt Romney will be extremely close. Both Obama and McCain, along with Ron Paul, hoped to draw heavily from the state’s 45% population of independents.

A larger share of independents voting Democratic leads to the conclusions that Obama will romp, McCain will be in a barn-burner with Romney and Ron Paul supporters will be wondering where all those straw polls victories came from.
