The rate of skeletons coming out of Mike Huckabee’s closet suggest a link to Narnia. The latest is Huckabee’s endorsement of the Southern Baptist Convention’s stance that “a wife is to submit graciously to the servant leadership of her husband”. Though this did happen last century, it was 1998, not 1908, when such an opinion, though no less ignorant, might have been more tolerated .

Huckabee defended not so much the position, but rather his hiring of women. “I had more women in my cabinet,” Huck stated, “and on my staff in key positions, including chief of staff, than any other governor probably in Arkansas history,” though, presumably, each woman had to get her husband’s permission to come to work.
