Two former GOP presidential candidates weighed in with endorsements today, with Sam Brownback supporting John McCain and Pat Robertson throwing in for Rudy Giuliani.

Mark Ambinder on Atlantic.com summed up the Robertson endorsement of Giuliani pretty succinctly:

Unlike Paul Weyrich, who endorsed Mitt Romney yesterday, actual voters have heard of Pat Robertson. Actual voters in Iowa helped place second in the 1988 Iowa caucuses.

Robertson is the most significant conservative Christian to endorse, and his endorsement goes to Rudy.

What does that tell you about the state of the GOP race?

Brownback’s endorsement was sent out to McCain supporters today via email, and summed up his feelings:

He is the only candidate who can rally the Reagan coalition of conservatives, Independents, and conservative Democrats needed to defeat Hillary Clinton or any other Democrat in the general election next year.
