Another interesting result from the CLC straw poll. Given Ron Paul’s convincing victory, are we surprised more people wouldn’t consider a third party (presumably Libertarian) candidate?

“How likely would you be to consider voting for a third party (not-major) candidate for president in the November 2008 General Election?”

Very likely
18.18%

Somewhat likely
17.58%

Somewhat unlikely
15.15%

I opine that to get the lowest-rate-loans.com from banks you should have a firm reason. Nevertheless, one time I’ve received a college loan, because I wanted to buy a house.

Impeach Cheney and Bush. It’s not too late

  • Jacque Auf

Why so much anti Ron Paul hysteria? What are all you so afraid of?

  • ThatLibertarianGuy

It is rather bizarre, Toby. As I’ve said, Ron Paul cannot win the Republican nomination Republican primaries because he’s lacking in one key Republican constituency: Republicans.

  • Toby

i’m still pretty astounded over the fact that his supporters seem to think not only that he SHOULD win, but that he has this massive support that will crush all comers…

  • ThatLibertarianGuy

Read that post. Devour it. That’s what the War on Terror is to the Ron Paul set. A random, racist attack on Afghanistan and Iraq for no apparent reasons. Those wars were just random things that we just decided to do one day because the people in those countries looked like the 9/11 terrorists.

Have you ever heard of these things called “books”? You should try reading one instead of going by your emotional impulses.

‘BoruJudasDedrich’ has it right. It isn’t the Paulunteers who are conspiracy-minded, it’s the neocons. Al-Qaeda is a trumped up nothing. As present and historical threats to our nation go, they’re wimpy.

We have bigger fish to fry, and most of them are in Washington D.C.

  • BoruJudasDedrich

“why are we making such a big deal about Ron Paul”

    -massive credibility
-winning about half of straw polls
    -finances rivaling Fred
-the only serious conservative candidate running
-he smells good (well, I speculate that he smells good)

“It’s another to be absolutely f–king paranoid.”

This, from the propagandists of al-Qaeda boogeymen. Neo-Cons are MORE conspiracy-minded than anyone else.

9/11 happened? yes, let’s attack Afghan…that’s where Osama is…I jus’ knows it.

Can’t we have a proper investigation? No! Al-Qaeda was behind it.

Can you prove that? here are some random pics of sand nig…I mean muslims

Hey, uh, there are lots of problems with this whole attack…we really need a proper investigation, right? ATTACK IRAQ!!!

Wait, why attack Iraq? Cuz of their WMDs…and their ties to al-Qaeda. STFU and support the troops you unpatriotic slimeball.

What WMDs, what ties? Oh nevermind.

So why not get out? Um, we can’t pull out now, civil war and all. The fact is we really ticked them off by being in their country…gotta calm them down by being in their country

So how about giving us our rights back? IRAN!!!

Wait, why attack Iran? Cuz of their WMDs and ties to al-Qaeda! STFU and support the troops you unpatriotic slimeball.

Don’t you care that the majority of soldiers support Ron Paul’s non-interventionist American principles? Pffft, what do they know.

Every conspiracy theory that the Neo-Cons have came up with has been proven ridiculous.

Now, mind you, I have a mean streak. If Israel was indeed some victim, I could be talked into helping them. I don’t know about making the US government help them, but I would. But, anyway, Israel ISN’T the victim. The US, Israel, and other countries have been pushing around smaller countries a long time. That ISN’T what the USA is about…and it is getting more obvious everyday that both US parties are horrifically corrupt and leading this country astray.

Yeah, the US is great…but like every great country, it has attracted usurping scum. It’s time to scrap the scum out of our government. It’s time for this country to get weird about freedom again.

  • Toby

the only chance to beat hillary is to get behind Ron Paul?

    come on, that’s absolutely absurd

  • ThatLibertarianGuy

Why is he saying this?: “Newsflash. The Libertarians have been more Republican that so-called Republicans. So party names don’t have much meaning anymore.”

So you’re saying parties can’t consequently change as events merit? Each of the two major parties have changed many times in their histories.

Also, why are we making such a big deal about Ron Paul (“Founding Fathers, Ron Paul, etc”) as if he’s the only libertarian in the country? There are plenty of other great libertarians who come across as far less spastic than Paul does and can actually communicate a message without coming across as some loon. What happened to the Rands and Friedmans of libertarianism? And why are libertarians such conspiracy theorists as of late? Why do they refuse to see the al-Qaeda threat for what it is? Someone on this board the other day called it a hoax cooked up the Bush Administration so they could go to war. (WHY?)

It’s one thing to be distrustful of authority. It’s another to be absolutely f–king paranoid.

The only real threat to the GOP is from the center. Bloomberg will run if the GOP nominates someone like Fred.

Bloomberg is the only third party candidate that would have enough money to self finance his campaign. He would be the Ross Perot of 08.

  • BoruJudasDedrich

BTW: I will say it again. Whether he runs as third party or not, Ron Paul will split the ‘Republican’ vote more than the ‘Democratic’ vote.

We will not get behind a liberal (neo-con or democrat). We will write in Paul’s name…carve it into the Diebold screen if necessary.

Your only chance to beat Hillary is to get behind Ron Paul.

Your only chance to cure this ill country is to vote for Doctor Ron Paul.

  • BoruJudasDedrich

Newsflash. The Libertarians have been more Republican that so-called Republicans.

So party names don’t have much meaning anymore.

Still, there has been and still are only two movements in this nation:
    1. Conservatives (Ron Paul and a few others)
    2. Liberals (Dems and Neo-Cons)

Conservatives are the only ones who believe in the original principles of this country. Most Republican voters are actually in category 1, but vote for Neo-Cons hiding behind the ‘lesser evil’ excuse.

The Liberals keep trying to compromise those principles…trying to make us just another mediocre nation.

    Don’t be mediocre, be American.

I like to use the Planet of the Apes analogy.
    -Chimps (liberal Dems…curious but ignorant)

-Gorillas (liberal Neo-Cons…passionate, macho, but ignorant)

-uneducated humans (the voiceless, apathetic, ignorant masses)

-Orangutans that control the Chimps, Gorillas, and uneducated humans (powers that be…controlling law, science, religion, media…informed but greedy)

-educated human/Heston’s character, Taylor (Founding Fathers, Ron Paul, etc.)

Uneducated humans, Chimps, and Gorillas all find Taylor weird…not normal, not mainstream. Oh, but the Oragutan knows what he is and thus goes out of his way to cage, humiliate, ignore, and dismiss Taylor.

[Eventually, Taylor had to use force to get his freedom.]

Get your hands off my country, you damn dirty apes!
